WELCOME TO RAINIER VALLEY COOPERATIVE PRESCHOOL

Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year is still open!

RVCP is more than a preschool – it's a place where kids get to be exactly who they are today. Our classes, offered for ages 1-5, are now enrolling. We look forward to welcoming your family this fall!

We are a community of learners creating a culture of care for one another and the world.

Our North Seattle College affiliation provides our families with early childhood education, family resources, scholarships, and community support.

All classes enjoy our fully-enclosed, dedicated playground and indoor, open floor-plan classroom.

What We Believe

RVCP offers a multi-age, social-emotional curriculum, with two teachers in the classroom, which enables us to meet the developmental needs of the children through authentic and meaningful relationships and activities. As children play and build relationships with each other and the grown-ups, they practice a variety of skills in which they experience both the role of expert and learner.

All decisions that we make as teachers start with the child at the center. Our image of the child is one who is complete, good, competent, powerful, creative, intelligent, inquisitive, enterprising, rooted in culture, empathic, cooperative, resilient and perseverant.

Our planning and reflections are built on the belief that children are exactly where they need to be and doing exactly what they need to be doing in this moment in time, and that they can accomplish what they are capable of doing, alone and with others.

Our work begins with the unconditional acceptance of our children exactly where they are.

Black Lives Matter

Rainier Valley Cooperative Preschool Board of Directors stands with the Black community in solidarity against racism. We recognize that schools are part of an institutionally racist system, and we are committed to learning and unlearning how to effectively undo and oppose that system. The Board values our families' voices and we want to encourage an ongoing, open dialog about how we can do better to include Black families at RVCP and integrate anti-racist practices and teaching into our organization. We recognize that anti-racist work is hard work - it is ongoing, constantly evolving, and it can't be done perfectly.

Land Acknowledgment

RVCP would like to acknowledge that we are on the unceded traditional land of the first people of Seattle, the Duwamish People past and present. We honor with gratitude the Duwamish people and the land where we learn through play, as we work to create a culture of care for one another and the world.

The Co-op Experience

We believe when parents engage in their child’s learning, the experience is more rewarding for both child and parents. Our preschool is parent-run and all families contribute to its success.

Support us

Every contribution you make helps RVCP’s unique early childhood and parent education programs continue to operate, supporting current families and reaching new ones.
